About Me
I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT 93365) in private practice. I offer a safe, open, and non-judgmental atmosphere where together we can move towards an understanding of your unique challenges and what relief might look like for you.
I believe that we grow best in an environment that is steadfast, reflective, responsive and compassionate. When these qualities are used to hold us, we can begin to hold ourselves and our experiences with more equanimity, clarity, trust and discernment. Many of us did not and do not have environments like this. It is my hope as your therapist that you might experience these qualities in our time together so that you may heal and grow, finding a life full of ease and meaning.
I tailor my approach to each client, however, I have two main ways of orienting to psychotherapy. I orient as a depth psychotherapist which means that we can look into your past, present and unconscious experiences by working with dreams, images and metaphor. We can do this by talking, working with art or movement. I am also a somatic psychotherapist which means that we slow down and learn to listen to the wisdom of the body. All of this is to better understand and integrate your suffering so that you can cultivate a larger sense of yourself.
TRAINING
I received my masters degree and depth training at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara. I have also completed a certification program in Jungian Studies at the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles.
I have trained with many skilled somatic teachers over the years. I began my studies with the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM), a mind-body psychotherapy as created by Elaine Miller-Karas and the Trauma Resource Institute (TRI). I am a certified TRM therapist and consultant, as well as a Community Resiliency Model (CRM) Skills Trainer. I have completed the Neuroaffective Touch Foundation Training with Aline Lapierre and am currently working towards my certification. I am also in the midst of studying Somatic Experiencing and working towards certification. Beyond these clinical trainings I have spent time as a student of various somatic and emobdiment practices.
